British Institute Of Radiology Launches Mobile App

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) is seeking to revolutionise how doctors study for professional qualifications with the launch of its first ever mobile application.

Built by Manchester-based app developer Apadmi, the Imaging Single Best Answer app is now live on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for Android devices.

BIR is hoping to keep pace with the rapid rise in smartphone and tablet use among doctors as they revise on compatible devices such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android phones and tablets.

The organisation claims this new app will enable trainee radiologists prepare for the Royal College of Radiologists’ Final FRCR (Part A) exam.

Users of Imaging Single Best Answer are able to answer 450 questions across the six exam modules and features two modes of assessment: ‘test’ and ‘exam.’

In test mode, trainee radiologists have access to a range of multiple choice questions where they are given the summary findings from a scan and asked to select the best diagnosis.

In exam mode, students are able to answer the questions in timed exam conditions before reviewing their answers with detailed explanations at the end.

User scores are all recorded by the app, allowing them to see how they are improving over time.

Anytime, Anywhere

Data is also pre-loaded into the app so that no Internet connection is required to use it.

“We’re confident that the Imaging Single Best Answer app will transform how doctors revise for their exams by enabling them to learn at a time and in a place that suits them,” claimed head of publishing at BIR Sophie Anderton.

“By helping doctors develop their skills in a more modern way, this app will hopefully improve patient outcomes and ultimately save lives,” she added.
