NHS SBS Appoints New Managing Director

Dec 02, 2014

NHS Shared Business Services (SBS), a joint venture between the Department of Health (DoH) and business services provider Steria, has appointed a new managing director.

David Morris will take the lead as NHS SBS seeks to expand its work providing NHS organisations with IT systems designed to offer back-office savings and greater efficiency to free up funding for front-line patient care.

Morris has already worked for the organisation for seven years, previously holding the title of business development director.

Prior to joining NHS SBS, he held a number of senior business development roles, including sales and marketing director at business process management firm Capita and head of healthcare at telecommunications group Cable and Wireless.

During his time at NHS SBS so far, Morris has been behind delivering primary care services for the East Midlands and the South West, as well as a deal with Stoke on Trent Partnership Trust.

“Successful Year”

“This year we have embarked upon partnerships with a number of new clients and have seen existing long term contracts renewed as well as the successful implementation of a standardised accounting system across the whole commissioning landscape that is now providing NHS England with vital visibility on the state of NHS finances,” claimed the new MD.

“These underline [our] ability to introduce new IT-led solutions and best practice processes that ultimately help deliver cost savings and greater efficiency to the NHS, making more resources and funds available for front-line care,” he added.

NHS SBS has recently won an award for the Integrated Single Financial Environment financial platform.
