Highways Agency PSN Contract Awarded To Thales

Security company Thales Group UK has secured a contract with the Highways Agency to deliver secure connectivity for the Public Service Network (PSN).

Under the agreement, Thales will also be expected to deliver wide area networks (WAN), local area networks (LAN) and remote access services for employees.

According to Phil Naybour, secure communications and information systems vice president at the firm, it will be delivering significantly reduced costs while ensuring security and operational effectiveness.

The Highways Agency will now have access to modern, secure means of communications that adhere to PSN standards while improving cyber security as a result of this new contract.

The sharing of information between the agency sites will also be improved and secure voice and improved data communications will be supported, say the company.

Besides this, it will be managing the transformation and migration of all users from their existing network to the new encrypted service.

Gateway services to ensure data integrity and security of information will also be provided, allowing agency employees to work more flexibly and efficiently.

The group will also be providing the Highways Agency with a high-security Remote Access Solution (RAS) to enable employees to safely work from home or other locations.

PSN Provides Good Business For Thale

The value of the five-year deal remains undisclosed, but according to press reports, it is estimated to be in the region of £10m.

This is not the first time that Thales has won a PSN contract, as the Insolvency Service partnered with the group last year to deliver secure network connectivity services.
