CIPFA Rolls Out Mobile Room Booking And Hot Desking Technology

Sep 03, 2015

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has adopted new mobile room booking and hot desking technology in a bid to reduce administration.

The new tech, which is used by CIPFA to manage events and training sessions at its London headquarters, comes from global business automation firm V1.

The organisation has held 1500 events and training sessions for 16,000 delegates over the past twelve months, aimed at those working in finance departments within public services.

Its new London headquarters opened at the beginning of the year to bring together two previously separate offices into one state-of-the-art site.

CIPFA, which is the oldest accountancy body in the UK, opted for V1’s Learning and Training Management (LTM) solution, a web-based application which is now used by the entire workforce of 260 people across five offices.

V1 LTM combines Customer Relationship Management (CRM), marketing and back office functionality such as visual scheduling and clash checking in order to manage learning and training development from registering learners to certification.

Mobile Capability

The organisation is using the modules to manage 20 hot desks and 12 rooms within the London office and is accessible to staff in the office via the LTM systems on their computers, but also remotely via any mobile device.

When booking details have been entered, they automatically appear on an iPad outside the relevant room and on a TV monitor placed in reception.

Mobile devices, as well as the back office LTM system, can also be used to book hot desks and the technology is helping to significantly reduce administration around both processes by removing the need for duplicating data entry.

“Both solutions look extremely professional and are an ideal fit with our new, modern office, but even more important is the way they have massively reduced administration and made both booking rooms and hot desks a more self-sufficient process,” claimed CIPFA group assistant director (IT) Colin Jenkins.
