HSCIC Awards Contract Via G-Cloud

The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) has selected a supplier to power its repository for healthcare data using the G-Cloud procurement framework.

UK IT managed services provider Redcentric will be offering its Database as a Service (DBaaS) to the organisation as part of the two-year, £3.5m contract.

DBaaS is set to power a HSCIC repository for healthcare data in England to enable a range of reporting and analysis to support the NHS in the delivery of healthcare services.

According to Redcentric, the managed service is a proven model for delivering high availability cloud database environments and so can support the critical repository.

The service will be provided from Redcentric’s England-based secure and accredited data centres to deliver a highly scalable and high performance system.

“We are delighted to be able to announce this contract win with HSCIC. This latest win represents the continued endorsement of Redcentric’s managed service and expertise within the healthcare sector,” claimed the firm’s COO (Chief Operations Officer) Fraser Fisher.  

Besides HSCIC, Redcentric has a number of other public sector healthcare customers, including NHS Trusts in Sunderland, Durham, Surrey and Sussex and Mid Yorkshire.

The company also has a number of local authority customers such as West Berkshire Council and the London Borough of Barnet.

Recent G-Cloud sales figures reveal that nearly £640m has been spent via the framework now since its launch, with sales equally divided between SMEs and larger firms.

The framework is most popular with central government, which is accountable for 80% of all purchases via G-Cloud.
