Intel IoT "Innovation Centre" Opens In Swindon

Intel has opened the doors of its fourth innovation centre for the Internet of Things (IoT), which is located in Swindon

The building, known as the IoT Ignition Labs Swindon, is designed to help customers work with Intel testing and perfecting hardware and systems relating to the world of Internet-connected stuff.

The idea is to innovate (hence the name) in a number of sectors, with the Swindon lab focusing on retail and transport, along with smart buildings, working towards the overall goal of smart, sustainable cities. However, Intel notes that the Swindon facility won't just work in these arenas, and will be open to any industry which could benefit from IoT deployments.

It will also have an educational facet, and will be used for workshop sessions with local schools, giving pupils insight into the world of software and hardware development.

The UK-based lab joins three others Intel already has up and running across Europe in Turkey, Germany and Sweden.
