Oxford Health NHS Signs Multi-Million Pound EHR Deal

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has signed a multi-million pound contract with software provider Advanced Health and Care for the provision of an electronic health record (EHR).

The five-year contract, with the potential to be extended to 10 years, is intended to support the Trust with its delivery of integrated community and mental health services.

Oxford Health is community focused, providing physical and mental health and social care to Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset via 6200 staff.

Advanced says its solution will be used across all of the Trust’s clinical pathways, including child, community and mental health, specialised services and out of hours.

The healthcare organisation will be able to capture data in real time, which will then integrate with the Summary Health Care record and legacy systems.

Clinicians and administrative staff will have access to this information, which will also link to health and social care systems before, during and after a patient is discharged.

“Our main objective in undertaking this procurement was to secure a next generation HER for the Trust and service users,” claimed Dominic McKenny, Oxford Health director of informatics.

“With the Advanced solution, we are confident [we have] achieved this objective,” he added.

Focus On Mobility and “Innovation”

The software firm claims that its main focus for the project is supporting mobile clinical staff – to do this, it is rolling out its integrated clinical mobile working solution to 3500 users using iPads.

“Providers of community based care are at the leading edge of innovation in care with a focus on information sharing, patient empowerment and workforce mobilisation,” claimed Jim Chase, Advanced managing director.

“The Trust has chosen our solutions to support an integrated model of community, mental health and urgent care because we have great products and a commitment to close collaboration with our customers and their partners to deliver systems that work for them and their patients,” he added.
