Partnership To Enable NHS Trusts To Meet Staffing Targets

Jan 06, 2015

Software provider Advanced Business Solutions and workforce management solutions supplier Kronos have teamed up to help NHS Trusts with staff management.

Following the agreement, Advanced is now the first UK company able to supply the Kronos OptiLink solution that aids NHS organisations with staff management, scheduling and reporting.

Currently, Kronos healthcare solutions are used by more than 3000 organisations globally, while Advanced provides software and support to 140 NHS Trusts in the UK.

According to Advanced, the new solution will be useful for healthcare organisations required to meet government regulations for demonstrating and managing safe staffing levels and nursing to patient ratios.

In July 2014, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) was appointed to oversee improvements in this area after the publication of the Francis Inquiry and Berwick report, each of which outlined ways for the NHS to improve care.

According to the two firms, Kronos OptiLink enables nursing executives to manage workload, schedules and productivity using actual patient demand instead of static rosters created in advance.

They claim that using real-time data on admissions, discharges and transfers, the solution can deliver a clear picture of patient population and staffing from the ward level though the entire system, ultimately giving hospitals the ability to staff themselves effectively based on patient care needed.

“NHS Trusts are under pressure to ensure safe staffing levels and the Kronos OptiLink solution is by far the best solution of the market to help them achieve this goal,” claimed Advanced managing director Dean Dickinson.

“We look forward to working with Kronos and combining its expertise with ours to support NHS clients,” he added.

Kronos Expanding UK Business

Kronos too benefits from the partnership, as well as NHS Trusts, because it is now able to expand its business in the UK Market.

“Kronos OptiLink is a well-established solution that will help NHS Trusts to transform care delivery,” claimed the firm’s UK dales director Tristan Spencer.

“The solution will help managers ensure that they have the right staff taking care of patients at all times and provide evidence of safe staffing to NICE and the Department of Health.

“The solution has already helped many healthcare organisations in the US improve patient care, control labour costs, minimise compliance risk and improve workforce productivity.

“We are very confident that by extending our reach with Advanced we can help even more NHS Trusts meet their safe staffing targets in the UK,” he added.
