Sussex CCG Awards Musculoskeletal Contract

Sep 10, 2014

The NHS Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has partnered with private healthcare provider Bupa UK to form BupaCSH Ltd.

Under a new contact, BupaCSH will provide Sussex with an integrated Musculoskeletal (MSK) care service that aims to provide a more joined-up health system for patients.

The partnership between the CCG and Bupa is 50:50 joint venture that enables to two organisations to bring their complementary skills and expertise together, claiming this will benefit patients through integrated and high quality care.

The MSK project will be focused on achieving best possible patient outcomes, but is also intended to reduce bureaucracy and speed up the patient journey.

The current system, which treats over 150 diseases and syndromes, requires patients to be referred between many organisations and seems disjointed patients, particularly because it has grown to offer other services.

Under the new service, patients will be referred to one single team to work with as they manage their care.

“Patient At The Centre Of The System”

“Our new partner impressed the evaluation panel by continuously demonstrating that the patient will be at the centre of everything they put in place,” claimed Dr Katie Armstrong, clinical chief officer at West Sussex.

“I am confident that once bedded in the new service will quickly deliver excellent quality and value and am encourage that as we do, the provider will see their patients as partners in their care going forward,” she added.

The five-year £235m contact is expected to be signed at the beginning of October, followed by a three-month period where the service will be mobilised for January 2015 start.
