Tablet Academy And Stone Group Partner Up

UK ICT solutions provider Stone Group has teamed up with training and consultancy provider Tablet Academy for a project called TalkTechTeach.

Aimed at the education sector, the scheme seeks to provide a consultancy, purchase, training and support service to customers procuring new mobile hardware with a particular focus on tablets.

Stone and the Academy claim they want to help education providers avoid “naïve purchasing” of hardware unsuitable for their needs, adding that devices are often chosen for ubiquity or form factor.

The partnership between the two organisations will audit capabilities needed on a device to support students in their particular subjects and then help customers choose the hardware they require.

TalkTechTeach will initially consist of free consulting sessions held with Stone and the Academy, as well as school senior leadership teams.

The partners will then provide the educational organisations with appropriate types and numbers of devices to customers, ultimately helping them with migration, integration and network requirements.

Partnership To Benefit Both Parties And Their Customers

“The TalkTechTeach partnership has been formed to provide and end-to-end services for new and existing customers of both parties,” claimed Professor Steve Molyneux, the Academy’s CEO.

“We’re leveraging the expertise on both sides, with the aim of encouraging head teachers to put tablet devices in their technology estate for informed and workable reasons,” he added.

“Tablet Academy is a perfect fit for Stone’s ambitions to show our customers how to see these devices a pedagogical enablers,” claimed Simon Harbridge, the company’s CEO

“There’s a lot of scope for better awareness in education of how deeply your purchasing decision will affect your ability to teach various subjects, both in and out of the classroom.

“Some devices might not be suitable options. Some might be overlooked for aesthetic reasons, for example.

“Tablet Academy will work with educators to analyse the perception gap between what’s needed and what’s being requested, and Stone will supply, integrate, train and manage accordingly,” he added.
