TfL To Begin SIAM Procurement Shortly

Transport for London (TfL) is set to launch a procurement process for a service integration and management (SIAM) supplier.

According to a UK public sector computing publication, a pre-qualification questionnaire is due to be released by the end of October 2014, with awards being made in late 2015 or early 2016.

The contract is predicted to cost £15m a year over five years but is predicted to have a lifespan of ten years and the procurement will eventually lead to a long list of around five suppliers and shortlist of three.

Further competitive dialogue between the final three appointed in April 2015 is predicted to take place around May and June that year.

The predicted five-year £75m contract will form a part of TfL’s Information Management Programme transformation.

According to the organisation, Information Management has direct responsibility for the systems underpinning transport in London, for example, providing the data that power the online Journey Planner and the Electronic Station Update Boards.

Model Growing In Popularity In Public Sector

TfL is currently planning an overhaul of its operating model and delivery of services with a SIAM and Towers model, which is currently popular in government Department transformation programmes.

The “towers” the organisation is said to be considering are end user computing, networks and application development and application managements services including hosting.

Meanwhile, SIAM will integrate and manage delivery of end-to-end ICT services that are divided into the service towers.
