Unit4 Receives Government Solution Award

Enterprise applications provider Unit4 has won an award for its implementation of Unit4 Business World at Coventry City Council.

The implementation of this product at the local authority met the criteria for Government/Utilities Solution of the Year in the European IT and Software Excellence Awards 2015.

Winners were required to demonstrate a good understanding of the customer’s requirements and the ability to deliver the project on time while meeting or exceeding agreed targets.

Coventry’s Money Matters programme uses the Business World ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution to streamline back-office finance and procurement processes in order to improve the value for money and services taxpayers receive.

According to Unit4, this project achieved Return on Investment (ROI) in 154 days and the project reached savings of nearly £4m in just two years.

Coventry has also been able to remove the new to bring in expensive external consultants to manage its finance systems as the solution is so flexible, results in savings of £120,000 per year.

“With 83 finalists representing 32 countries from across Europe, competition was certainly intense this year,” claimed chair of the judges’ panel at the Awards John Garratt.

“The judges were particularly pleased with the successful implementation of a large project at Coventry City Council. The rapid and considerable ROI has raised the bar for public sector organisations across Europe,” Garratt added.

Working With Funding Cuts

Coventry began its work with Unit4 when it realised its population was increasing but government funding for falling by 15% per annum.

“As a team we faced considerable funding challenges and we knew we had to act,” claimed the Council’s assistant director of financial management, revenues and benefits Barry Hastie.

“Unit4 Business World is people centric, so rather than focus exclusively on process it supports our employees with relevant information.

“As the ROI and our customer satisfaction surveys demonstrate, this approach works,” Hastie added.

Alongside Coventry, Unit4 also supplies back office solutions to local authorities across Europe, including Bristol City Council, The City of Stockholm and The Sate of Berlin.
