Weslo Housing Management Adopts Mobile Working

Apr 29, 2015

Weslo Housing Management, a social landlord operating predominantly in West Lothian and Falkirk, has selected a mobile working solution to manage various parts of the business.

Reactive repairs, pre and post inspections and void management will all be covered by mobile workforce technology from mobile technologies firm 1st Touch.

The housing provider is aiming for its investment in mobile technology to gain efficiency and customer benefits such as affordable, good quality rented housing for tenants.

Weslo is currently using QL Housing Management from Aareon, a housing management software provider of which 1st Touch is a subsidiary.

Because it was using this product, it was already aware of 1st Touch mobile solutions because they are able to integrate seamlessly with offerings from Aareon.

The social landlord was also drawn to this solution in particularly because it is platform agnostic, allowing it to work with Weslo’s existing estate of Motorola ES400 handsets and iPads, as well as any other devices it may choose in the future.

“1st Touch supplied a Forms Leader to visit our team and recreate their processes on electronic forms,” explained Weslo Housing ICT manager Kevin Cairns.

“They then organised administrator training and subsequently have carried out, along with our own staff, any fine-tuning and configuration that was required.

“In operational terms we now have a highly effective and robust system that ticks all the boxes and works extremely well with our Aareon back-office system.

“We are confident that this technology will free up a great deal of time and enable us to do more with the resources we have. As a result this will significantly boost efficiency and contribute to enhanced customer service levels,” he added.

Supporting Workers And Tenants

The housing management organisation uses 1st Touch to support the work of its 22 reactive repairs operatives along with the four inspectors who carry out pre and post inspectors and report on the condition of voids.

The new system allows work to arrive direct to the operative’s PDA, leading to more effectively scheduled and controlled work.

It also allows for the input of any stock used, helping overall stock management as Weslo.
