The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) is set to begin extended testing of the new NHS e-Referral Service, a system that will replace the retired Choose and Book programme.
The original planned “go live” date of the new NHS e-Referral system, which is predicted to save NHS England around 20% in costs, has been delayed until spring 2015.

NHS England has claimed that its new e-Referral service will operate at around 20% of the costs of its predecessor, the retiring Choose and Book programme.
The newly launched NHS e-Referrals system, a system which allows patients to book hospital appointments online, has been experiencing further “technical difficulties.”
NHS e-Referrals, the replacement for the now retired Choose and Book Service, went live yesterday with a slightly bumpy start.
