BT, Atos, Capita Continue As Top UK Healthcare SITS Suppliers

Nov 12, 2014

Research and analysis firm TechMarketView’s UK Healthcare SITS Supplier Landscape 2014-15 report has revealed the top three companies in the industry have remained the same.

SITS (software and IT services) suppliers BT, Atos and Capita continue to top the list of suppliers in the market, despite suffering declines in revenue this year.

Each year TechMarketView takes an in depth look at the UK SITS provider landscape, ranking leading players and analysing their performance and prospects in the sector.

The report also notes up-and-coming suppliers to watch in the months ahead, examines how the landscaper is evolving and how it will change further in the future.

According to the research, there is “significant diversity” in performance between suppliers; while some have seen double-digit declines in their SITS revenues over the past year, others have seen dramatic increases.

Changes Throughout Top 20

Although the top three providers remained the same this year, there have been changes throughout the top 20.

Consulting and outsourcing firm CSC and tech services firm Accenture have fallen down the rankings, while tech giant HP, outsourcers Serco, IT services provider Steria and clinical software provider EMIS have all begun to climb.

Coming in at number 19, cloud-based infrastructure services firm Block Solutions has entered the top 20 for the first time.

Failed IT Programme Leads To “Evolving Landscape”

“The UK healthcare SITS supplier landscape is evolving,” claimed TechMarketView.

“Suppliers that rapidly built a presence in the sector under the former National Programme for IT in the NHS (NPfIT) are finding their positions in the market under threat from a host of new rivals.

“Some rivals are long-time incumbents in the sector. Others are hopeful new entrants: some from other areas of the UK public sector, some from other vertical markets or geographies and some fresh-faced start-ups,” it added.
