CCS Launches New Technology Services Framework
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has launched the new Technology Services agreement as the successor to the IT Managed Services framework.
The new network is available for government and other public sector customers which require a scalable solution for their IT managed service requirements.
Technology Services, which was developed in collaboration with the Government Digital Service (GDS), officially started on 27th May 2015 and this current iteration will finish 27th November 2016.
According to CCS, the agreement will help the public sector take significant steps towards fulfilling the government’s technology strategy and digital by default standard.
Some 95 suppliers have been appointed to the framework, 54% of which are small to medium sized businesses.
There are 11 different lots which are designed to help users break down large single supplier contracts into a number of smaller contracts.
The government claims this will help support the UK growth agenda by opening up market opportunities to small businesses.
The 11 lots are:
- Help/service desk
- Desktop support
- Network management
- Network and content security
- Infrastructure and platform, maintenance and support
- Audit services and asset management
- IT infrastructure transition services and delivery
- Service integration/service integrator
- Disaster recovery/business continuity
- Back up and data services
- Asset disposal.
Benefits Of Procurement Frameworks
Public sector customers are set to see reduced timescales and costs for procurement of services via the framework as it removes the need to run a full OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) procurement.
Despite this, CCS says that the framework is still in full compliance with EU procurement regulations as they specifically recognise framework agreements as a legitimate route to market/
It also claims the benefits of the new agreement include ease of use, better access to alternative solutions and suppliers, assured supplier standards, pre-defined terms and conditions and better collaboration.
