Civica Acquires Web Technology Group To Strengthen Government Portfolio

Civica, the specialist systems and business process services provider, has acquired Web Technology Group (WTG) in a bid to strengthen its public sector reach.  

WTG plans, builds and manages complex, secure web applications and digital services for government and other public sector clients. 

The London-based firm's customers include the Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Department of Health, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Government Digital Service, the College of Policing and National Crime Agency.  

WTG is playing a large part in the government's digital strategy; it has adopted agile methodology and is well-established on the G-Cloud and Digital Services frameworks.  

Effective Digital Transformation 

"As the public sector looks to modernise and make savings through digital transformation, the acquisition brings complementary expertise, extending the Group's capability, particularly in central government as we continue to help organisations across the public sector create more immediate, agile and connected ways of working," claimed Civica chief executive Simon Downing.  

"Helping central government to realise its vision of digital services has driven strong growth for WTG over the last three years and there is still plenty of opportunity for us to transform how government interacts with its employees, partners and citizens. Having the backing of Civica will enable us to take our offering to the next level," added WTG chief executive James Steventon.  

This month, WTG secured the largest deal made via the Digital Services framework in an agreement worth £9m with the Home Office.
