Denbighshire Teams Up With Civica For £200k Annual Savings

Mar 27, 2015

Denbighshire County Council has teamed up with specialist systems and business process services provider Civica to drive £200,000 of savings each year.

The strategic partnership, which is the first of its kind in Wales, will last for seven years and see Civica delivering outsourced revenues and benefits services on behalf of the local authority.

Denbighshire will also be transferring 74 employees to Civica and creating a transactional processing centre known as Canolfan Elwy to sustain local employment through the provision of services for other public sector organisations in Wales.

“Like all councils in the UK, we are having to look at innovative ways of working in order to continue to provide services in the face of severe budget restrictions,” explained the council’s Cabinet Lead Member for Finance Cllr Julian Thomspon-Hill.

“Civica’s knowledge and understanding of the issues facing local authorities makes them an important partner for automating and transforming critical council services such as revenues and benefits,” he added.

The Councillor hopes that the new deal will allow Denbighshire to maintain and grow the work it does whilst creating more jobs further down the line by taking on work for local authorities.

He says that Civica has helped to make the transition as seamless as possible so that customers can continue to access services in the way they have done in the past.

Both unions and employees were included throughout the process and have provided very positive feedback.

Extending Denbighshire’s Success

“We look forward to working in partnership with Denbighshire Council to extend our existing relationship and to provide service assurance and savings for the council during a period of rapid and significant change,” claimed Civica chief executive Simon Downing.

“Denbighshire already delivers a high performing service and, together with our experience in transforming services, we will build on this to drive innovation, efficiency and growth,” he added.
