Eduserv Partners With Amazon For Low Cost Public Sector Cloud Solution

Apr 16, 2015

Not-for-profit managed cloud services provider Eduserv has teamed up with e-commerce giant Amazon to develop a reasonably priced cloud solution that meets the needs of the public sector.

Support for Amazon's cloud division, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has now been added to Eduserv's Assured Hybrid Cloud Service, a new programme that aims to reduce barriers to moving public services online.

This new solution claims to provide a single, integrated platform that hosts data and has a number of security controls covering OFFICIAL and OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data.

It brings together Eduserv's Pan-Government accredited IL3 secure cloud hosting and the secure AWS cloud.

Applications can securely share information across security domains with Eduserv's Cloud Connector.

The not-for-profit claims it has designed its new service to give UK public sector organisations the flexibilities and economics of scale offered by AWS whilst retaining the option to keep some portions of data in a UK sovereign cloud service.

Moving Entire Estates To The Cloud

The Eduserv Assured Hybrid Cloud is also supplemented by professional and managed services, allowing organisations to move their entire estate to the cloud.

The professional services include cloud strategy, design and migration, while the managed services are 24/7 service desk, network operations centre and security operations centre.

"The Eduserv Assured Hybrid Cloud has the potential to revolutionise cloud adoption in the public sector," claimed managing director of managed cloud services at the organisation Ed Zedlewksi.

"One of the major barriers to adoption of cloud computing is the handling of OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data. Our hybrid cloud, coupled with AWS, provides a secure, accredited cloud environment for sensitive information," he added.
