GDS Approve Whitehall e-Recruitment System

The Government Digital Service (GDS) has allowed an e-Recruitment system for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Civil Service Resourcing (CSR) to move to public beta.

GDS originally concluded that the service could not be launched on the service.gov.uk domain as a Live Digital By Default service because it did not meet the criteria.

CSR was set up in April 2011 tasked with redeveloping and providing a resourcing solution for the Civil Service, including oversight and management of related contractual arrangements.

It allows vacancy holders and recruiters to manage bothy large recruitment campaigns and individual vacancies both internally and externally.

The government also claims CSR providers an improve candidate experience for those who are seeking and applying for jobs.

The GDS assessment acknowledges that the service took steps to address the initial issues raised, allowing GDS to give it permission to move into a public beta phase.

CSR Made Necessary Improvements To Gain GDS Green Light

According to GDS, CSR appointed a service manager with the ability to run the system and implement a plan for improvement during the beta phase.

Another improvement was that a small survey was conducted of applicant with access to the new portal.

Those who took part in the research gave positive feedback on navigation and new features, while identifying areas for improvement.

CSR also undertook the testing of its e-recruitment system on multiple browsers, as well as putting in more work to ensure it works on mobile and tablet devices.

It also moved to meet the standards set by GDS by bring the look of the service more in line with GOV.UK.
