Lincolnshire County Council To Award Contract To Serco
After a year-long procurement process, Lincolnshire County Council looks set to agree a contract with business service company Serco to provide IMT, finance and HR services.
The council says the company will also be expected to take on support and customer services in the five-year deal, which is valued at £71m with predicted savings of £14m to Lincolnshire over the lifetime of the contract.
Over the last year, the council worked closely with Serco and IT and business service provider Agilisys to find service improvements and cost savings as their final bids were put together.
“It was important to get the best deal for taxpayers, so we’ve put a lot of time and care into these negotiations,” claimed leader of the council, Cllr Martin Hill.
“In the end, Serco delivered a better deal with more savings. [It] has also said that it would continue to employ the same number of staff within Lincolnshire and that there is even the potential to create an additional 140 local jobs over the five-year contract,” he added.
The councillor also said he believed that the contract would officially be awarded at the council meeting on 4th March. The services company would take over in 2015 when the current contract ends.
The firm says it will begin transforming current services in April this year, creating a permanent pool of resources which will be used to resource the council’s temporary requirements for secretarial, business support and administration and social care support.
