Wycombe Selects IT Provider

Sep 09, 2014

Wycombe District Council has chosen a provider for its fully integrated IT infrastructure and the transformation and upkeep of its customer services.

The selected supplier is IT business services firm Capita, which will now manage the local authority’s hosted and local IT systems, desktop services, network services, wi-fi and an IT helpdesk.

It will also be working with Wycombe to improve the range and experience of self-serve facilities and introducing a mobile app called Engage to allow citizens more choice when it comes to getting in touch with the authority, finding information or using its services.

The mobile app, designed by Capita, will integrate with Wycombe’s back office, creating a more “fluid” experience for people who use it.

The company claims it will allow the council to achieve greater efficiencies across the organisation that will benefit both residents and staff.

Council Aware Of Need To Improve Services

“We know we need to update and improve the way local residents and businesses can interact with us and to make our services available at times that suit them,” claimed Wycombe’s head of HR, ICT and shared support services John McMillan.

“We also want to support our employees with up to date technology that allows them to have more time to help local people with complex enquiries.

“Capita has the breadth of expertise and capability to help us achieve this,” he added.

The Capita and Wycombe partnership is set to last for five years in a deal that is said to be worth £14m.
