@UK Successful in Compliance with Information Governance

Apr 25, 2013

We are happy to announce that @UK has been issued with successful accreditation of the Information Governance Statement of Compliance (IG SoC) at level 3, the highest level available.

Information Governance refers to the policies and practices that together ensure the security and confidentiality of information thoughout the NHS. It ensures that personal information is:

  • Accurate and fit for purpose
  • Held and used lawfully
  • Maintained securely
  • used effectively in order to deliver the best possible care to patients.

IG SoC is the process by which organisations enter into an agreement with the NHS for access to the NHS National Network (N3). The process includes elements that set out terms and conditions for use of the new Health and Social Care Information Centre and services including the N3, in order to preserve the integrity of those systems and services.

The steps in the IG SoC process set out a range of security related requirements which must be satisfied in order for an organisation to be able to  provide assurances in respect of safeguarding the N3 network and information assets that may be accessed.
