Mar 12, 2007

The London Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA), the largest of the 22 district societies affiliated to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), held its Annual Dinner on 22 February 2007 in the unusual surroundings of the Tower of London. The LSCA has a membership of over 37,000 representing around a third of all chartered accountants.

The Company Formations Department of @UK PLC works closely with accountants in practice and was pleased to be one of the sponsors of the dinner. Among the guests were His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateria and Great Britain, His Excellency Mr George Iacovou, Cyprus High Commissioner, and Colin Stanbridge, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Despite having battled through the driving weather, guests enjoyed an after hours walk through the cobbled streets and a private tour of the Crown Jewels, followed by a champagne reception in the Royal Armouries and dinner in the Banqueting Suite.

The @UK Company Formation display stand was well attended at the champagne reception before the dinner and all guests were offered a complimentary mouse mat.

The LSCA President, Constantine Ioannou welcomed the guests before dinner and the after dinner speakers included Richard Dyson, President of ICAEW and The Right Honourable William Hague MP, Shadow Foreign Secretary.

In addition to the Chris Reay Memorial Prize for highest marks in the Professional Stage examinations presented by Constantine Ioannou, there was a talk by Neil Swan, Chief Executive, and a Prize Draw to raise funds and awareness for the President’s chosen charity, the Starlight Children's Foundation, which brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment. At the end of the evening it was announced that the Prize Draw had raised almost £7,500.

Alice Leyland, Company Secretary attended the event with Lois Aiken from the Company Formations department, along with husbands John Aiken, @UK’s Finance Director and Tony Leyland, both of whom are chartered accountants
