The Government has published a consultation setting out their long term view for apprenticeships in the UK. The aim is to involve employers as well as the training providers so that the apprenticeship is structured according to the needs of the employer who can then develop the workforce they need to drive their business forward. It is proposed that employers will design and develop qualifications and standards for their own businesses. This plan has been welcomed and the Federation of Small Businesses has urged the Government to take its time with these reforms to ensure that puts in place a stable system that lasts for the long term. They comment that they look forward to working with the Government to take these recommendations forward and ensure that they work for small and micro businesses
