How To Protect Your Home Address

Nov 29, 2017

There are ways to keep your home address private

When forming a company, the company’s registered office address and the address of the company directors will appear on the public record. If using your home address as a registered office address and the director address, then your home address will be displayed on the public register. This can lead to your home address becoming inundated by business junk mail.

Since October 2009, directors have been able to protect their home address. Directors can now supply two addresses to Companies House: their home address, which will remain private, and a service address which will be shown on the public record.

A director can choose any address as a service address, including the registered office address of the company. However, it must be somewhere where documents can be delivered and an acknowledgment or receipt can be provided if required. PO boxes or DX numbers are not allowed. In the event a director chooses to use their home address as their service address, it would not be made apparent on the public register that the two addresses are one and the same.

@UKPLC Company Registrations offers both a registered office address service and a director service address service. Using services like these is an easy, professional way to protect your privacy and prevent business junk mail reaching you at home.
