SIC codes provide an easy way of describing what a business does.
The United Kingdom Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities (SIC) is used to classify business establishments and other standard units by the type of economic activity in which they are engaged.
They are used by agencies like Companies House to provide an overview of a business’s activities. In the case of Companies House it is required for the annual return which is filed on the anniversary date of incorporation.
Companies House adopted the SIC 2007 version on 1st October 2011.
