DWP Hunts For IT Suppliers

The Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) is searching for an IT supplier as it moves forward with its digital transformation.

According to a tender published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), an IT service management toolset based on DWP’s software as a service (SaaS) deliver model is required.

“The toolset should include configuration, integration and knowledge transfer to up-skill [the Department’s] internal capability and flexibility to move to another service/license model at [its] option,” says the document.

The contract notice also reveals that the resulting deal with an on-going occasional requirement for professional resources to be provided by the winning tenderer.

It notes that DWP handles large quantities of personal data assets and has the responsibility of maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of this information, so prospective bidders must be able to offer a solution that meets necessary government security standards.

“The toolset must be capable of supporting an organisation the size and scale of [the Department] – approx. 93,000 users and 35,000 incidents per month,” says the tender.

“The successful supplier must provide a solution to which service tower and other suppliers can easily interface using standard integration methods capable of gaining accreditation to ‘Axelos,’ ‘Pink Verify,’ ‘OGC ISS standards’ in respect of core and integration capability,” it adds.

Off-Site, Flexible Solution Needed

DWP requires the solution that arises as a result of this contract to be hosted off-site, accessible via web browser while delivering access to users within the Department and its authorised third party suppliers.

Services need to include a service desk, incident management, service validation and test, service transition and continual service improvement as required.

The deal is set to last for a period of three years and the option of two one-year extensions, worth between £3.5m and £17.5m.
