Four Of Six Planned Services Now Using GOV.UK Verify

The Government Digital Service (GDS) has revealed that four of six services targeted to be using GOV.UK Verify by December 2014 have successfully done so.

Three of the four now using the government’s new identity assurance scheme, PAYE Change or Update Your Company Car Tax, HMRC Self-Assessment and Rural Payments, are publicly available for people to use.

It is expected that people will start being able to access the Redundancy Payments Service in beta using GOV.UK Verify later this month.

The two services that did not reach the December 2014 expected live date were View Driving Licence and Change of Address.

“DWP is continuing to develop its change of address service, including using GOV.UK Verify to allow people to access the service,” claimed Janet Hughes, head of policy and engagement for the programme.

“This not likely to become a public-facing service in its own right; it will be part of a range of other digital services.

“DVLA is now expecting to connect its View Driving Licence service to the hub in January 2015 and we expect that people will be able to access the service through GOV.UK Verify from March 2015,” she added.

Updated Timetable

A blog post on the dedicated Identity Assurance blog has revealed an updated timetable for government services using GOV.UK Verify and when they intend to go live with this.

Claim An Over Payment of Tax, a HMRC service is expected to be connected in January 2015, while Tax Credit Renewals, Universal Credit, PAYE self-service and Transferrable Tax Allowance are all due to be connected by March 2015.
