NI Health And Social Care Targets £43m Savings

The Northern Ireland Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) expects to save £43m over a ten-year period  after implementing a new IT systems project.  

The Department has successfully gone live with a full rollout of a country-wide finance, procurement and logistics solution across Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) and HSC Business Services Organisation. 

The chosen products come from business applications and services provider Advanced Computer Software, including its Cloud Invoicing within HSC Business Services Organisation.  

This particular solution will be used to speed up the approval of up to 250,000 supplier invoices each year to unlock further efficiencies.  

The project is part of a transformation programme designed to improve the delivery of critical business functions in Health and Social Care (HSC) in NI and cut costs dramatically. 

Ten Years Of Savings 

The Advanced contract is reportedly worth £17m over the contract period of ten years.  

"The new solution from Advanced is a major step towards achieving demonstrable annual savings over the next ten years and we look forward to using these savings in frontline health and social care services for the benefit of our patients," claimed Sam Waide from HSC Business Services Organisation.  

"To achieve this go live within 20 months of the contract being signed is a great achievement and is a testament to the excellent relationship we have developed with Advanced and the hard work and co-operation of the HSC staff. 

"We are now experiencing the benefit the integrated solution offers and developing further plans to maximise the benefits the solution and technology offers," Waide added.
