cloudBuy provides solutions for buyers and sellers and brings them together to trade via e-marketplaces and private purchasing portals.
We began to put our vision into practice in 1998 with the aim to create a single e-commerce platform that could serve all of a company’s e-commerce needs, encompassing buying and selling, and providing a way to bring organisations together to do business online.
Our track record to that point had been as a software development house and integration specialist. We had just completed some of Europe’s biggest and most technically challenging transactional projects with strong security requirements. Based on this experience, we started to build the cloudBuy e-commerce platform in 1999.
Our company was originally called @UK plc and was admitted to the London Stock Exchange AIM market for growing companies in December 2006. The company name was changed to cloudBuy plc in November 2013.
Our approach to B2B e-commerce was very different from what had been seen in the procurement sector before, where buyers were expensively managing catalogues of supplier products behind their firewalls. As transactional specialists we knew this traditional approach could not scale to cover everything that an organisation buys. The only viable way forward was a B2B e-commerce platform which addressed all of the complexity generated by real companies doing business online, in real time, with multiple customers and suppliers.
Firstly we created the B2B e-commerce functionality for suppliers. Starting in 2002, we added an enterprise procurement capability for large buying organisations (cloudBuy Purchasing Portal) with a host of procurement-related services and standard ERP integration.
Our e-commerce solution set has now expanded to meet the needs of buyers and sellers. Find out more here.
Over time, we have taken our e-commerce vision around the world, supporting customers in many industries and countries.
